    Latham Hotel
A great little place for the money--other hotels were 2.5-3.5 x the cost of this one. A nice, tidy, little room with a great air conditioner, clean bedding and carpeting, plenty of towels and blankets and room service brought more upon request, very clean tiled bathroom (shared) with a nice refreshing shower, soaps, shampoo. If you're looking for a great location close to shopping and attractions, a few blocks from Penn Station / Madison Square Garden, where you can sleep, shower and get back out on the NYC streets without breaking the bank, this is your place. There were several security guards inside and outside who were professionally dressed which made the place feel very safe. They kept our suitcases and shopping bags all day for us in a roped off, guarded area on the day we checked out so we could walk around the city without carrying around our stuff. We sat outside on the sidewalk at night and ate Chinese food and looked up at the lit-up Empire State Building. If you're looking for no frills, clean and affordable, this is your place. It made my 2 teenage girls appreciate a little sacrifice when I told them staying at this hotel was making our vacation less of a drain on the pocketbook as well as supporting a good cause....More
