No internet, lame breakfast

Couldn't connect to wi-fi internet in my room. Had to go down to the lobby which only had spotty access. The breakfast was nothing but stale muffins and old coffee. When I asked for a bowl for corn flakes, the server responed, "they're all dirty - just use a paper cup".

Poor Service

The location of this hotel was convenient for us but had some problems. To begin with, we had some trouble finding the hotel. I knew where it was but the hotel sign is Wyndham Garden and the name on hotels.com is the Yorkland Hotel. The only way I was able to figure it out is by the street address. Passed the place twice before I figured it out. As others mentioned, paying $5.00 CDN to park in this area is ridiculous. It's clearly a rip off charge used in order to gain revenue. They have ample parking and it is in a business park on the outskirts of town. When we checked in, there were dishes in the hallway from someone's room service. When we checked out the next morning (around 10:30), the dishes were still there. Perhaps they were not really dirty dishes but some art display. If so, I missed the point. My favorite part of the stay was when the housekeeper tried busting in our room at 7:50 am and then again at 8:20am. When I got mad at her the second time, she told me I had to put the do not disturb sign out. I've traveled a bit. Been in a lot of hotels around the world. I've never had a housekeeper try and get in to the room so early. When we left, she glared at me as we walked past her in the hallway. Great customer service. The complimentary breakfast was pretty awful. When we went down, there was almost no food out and no clean places to sit. There was only one very harried woman working. She was abrupt in telling us to put our vouchers in the basket - something I heard her say repeatedly as people came down for breakfast. Not so sure only having one person work the breakfast is a good idea. After we ate the little that was left, we were happy to find that coffee had been made. It was out when we first came down. Food had been restocked too but clean places to sit were still scarce.

Exceeded expectations

This is a great hotel for the money. Rooms were clean and well-tended. Great selling point for me was free breakfast - it was fresh, well-replenished and lasted until 11 am. Based upon my experience, I would recommend to friends and family.

Disappointed -

Booked this hotel by mistake and could not get a refund. Forced to stay and was very disappointed. Front of the hotel is very dirty. No microwave, because of safety concerns...baloney!! we all have microwaves at home and can use them. Requested a mini fridge and got it after 36 hrs. Stayed 4 nights (booked 6) and the room was never vacumed. Had to request towels, soap on two occasions. Shower curtain rod falling apart. On one occassion maid service just smoothed over the top sheet on the bed leaving the under sheet crumpled up. Imagine no internet service in the room, not even in a general area where you can check you email. Continental brekfast is a disaster. Same breakfast every day. One female employee was using her bare hands to touch the bread. Not a good hotel.

Good hotel, bad area

The room was very nice, very pleasant staff. However, the location of the hotel degrades the Windham name. This is supposed to be a part of the Windham chain and the location really discredits the Windham's name. They also impose a nightly parking fee which is not stated on the site and the parking lot is very run down. Please fix the parking lot, affix entrance signs beginning from the street, and affix numbers on the building so that it is more feasible for guest to know where they are going and where the entrance is.

Great room for the money

Great breakfast... cant finish it ") Very Good and professional front desk, clean bathroom, good swimming pool, good room, nothing to complain, price can be lower. but the surrounding/outside hotel is not so good... i think because of decrease of business of surrounding area

More than Price Paid

Great deal would stay again. The hotel is a Wyndham.

Great room for the Money

Great Hotel for what we needed. The Staff was very polite and ready to assist. Rooms have no refridgerators, however if you request one they deliver it to your room immediately at no additional cost.(small one, worked perfect for food and medication) Bed, sheets, bathroom were all very clean. The rooms are equiped with internet access, TV and free local calls. The pool, Gym and Sauna seems very well maintained and is available from 6:00 am to 10:30pm. Some negatives are, Elevator doors is a bit noisey, could some upgrade, You have to pay $5 (C) for parking per day.... All in all it's a good hotel for the value. I'll stay there again if/when i have to.

Average of good and great

Hotel was good. Rooms was updated with new furniture, but the bathroom was not upto the standard of neither hotel nor room. Best part of the hotel is renovated pool, whirlpool, sauna and gym. It is recommended that the hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast for the price they charge for the rooms. Although the restaurant had good food.

Would recommend

Our room was clean and nice. Staff was very helpful with anything we asked for. The pool was a big plus for the kids. I would stay in this hotel again.

Nice Hotel!

Hotel was very nice and updated, except for the bathrooms. Room was very contemporary everything up to date. Wow did they forget to do the bathroom! Bathroom was old shower looked dirty and old.

Not Quite 4-star status

This was an okay hotel. I'm not sure how they think they are 4 star...seemed more like 2.5 star to me. I can see the direction they are going and it's good, but there are still many things that keep them out of that category. You can see where they have tried to make improvements to an already existing hotel (former Ramada if I am correct), but they lacked attention to the details. I read other reviews noting small things like poor paint job and even dingy elevator buttons and thought to myself, "Come on...really?" Well, it's true and you do notice them. So much of the hotel has been remodeled, but these small details really do stand out. How difficult would it be to replace the dirty elevator buttons? Also, you could see the dirty and broken outlet receptacles in our mostly updated bathroom. I also had read that people left room service plates, etc. in the hallway and they weren't cleaned up. I thought this couldn't be true, but it was. It's not like there weren't numerous housekeeping staff passing them by and no one stopped to pick them up. One room had a clear garbage bag with dirty diapers in it and it was out in the hall for more than 24 hrs (still there when I checked out, so no idea how long it really stayed there). I guess it would only get hauled away if the family left the smelly diapers in their room. Maybe it's just a case of "not my job" but again, I would NEVER expect this from a 4-star hotel. The front desk was pleasant, if not overwhelmed at times. It seemed like everyone checking in had an issue, and with only 2 people working at 3pm check-in time on a Friday, the line moved very slowly. I know that everyone charges for parking in Toronto, but this place is at least 20 minutes from downtown Toronto by car, so even the lower rate of $5/day seemed excessive. It was just a typical big parking lot with lots of free spaces, so parking was not exactly a premium. Overall, the stay was decent and you can see the early effort is there, but they reall
