Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 128Loved it!
Completely perfect; the room was small, but perfect for one person. Located in central London, I was literally in the middle of everything, and it was easy to get anywhere. Helpful and friendly staff -- no complaints at all!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 128Fantastic Location
I selected this hotel based on the recommendations on this website. I was so pleased when I found the location to be perfect for touring around London. I found I could walk to many of the sites: Harrods, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, West End, Piccadilly Circus, the Portrait Gallery, and the National Gallery (to name a few). It is also very close to shopping, train, and boat transportation. I stayed here the last week of December 2008. The room was small, but very comfortable and warm. The bathroom was large, had a full tub, and towel warmers, the bathroom itself was rather cold but propping the door open to let the room heat in worked just fine. The room came with hot tea/coffee, shampoo/soap, and a hair dryer. But to iron there was an ironing room down the hall. When I arrived to the hotel early I was able to check in right away and get settled into my room. During my touring around London I was late returning to the hotel for check-out and this was not a problem. The concierge was very helpful in providing directions to local sites and even provided instructions on how to get to friend's home outside of London.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 128Great location
The location of this hotel, in the middle of theatre district, is one of its best quality. Lots of plays in the area, short bus to Tralfalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, and other landmarks. Only a short walk from Covent Garden.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 128horrid experience
We had two issues with this hotel: front desk service and the extremely small room size that made the room uncomfortable (in addition to the hard, lumpy bed...) 1. We had booked a superior class room; at checkin , there were none available. Rather than explain the situation and offer to rectify the problem the next day, we were just checked into the lower grade room and had to create a lot of hassle before were upgraded the next day. 2. Rooms are SMALL. No room for a chair. The smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Inadequate for 2 people.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 128Underwhelmed my very basic expectations
Looked great on the website - arrived in the lobby after running the gauntlet of smokes clustered around the door, the receptionist was fairly pleasant and was reticent when she answered yes to my "I thought the hotel was recently refurbished?". If it was then recently means maybe 20 years ago - the room I had was scruffy, the furniture chipped and scratched, the bath was so old and tired there was no shine left in the enamel and the tile grout looked very grubby. I like to find what I expect - and use this site a great deal for my rooms in London and Frankfurt. If it was summer, no airconditioning and small windows at the top of the building would have made it very uncomfortable.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 7 of 128Good location for the money
Best thing is the location. Clean room. Nice staff. It was November, but bathroom freezing cold.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 128Decent.
This is a decent deal. I booked a standard single room (an upgrade to a 'club' room was offered for an extra 40 pounds per night. I didn't go for it). I stayed for 2 nights in December. While the standard single was certainly not spacious, it was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. There is a hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities and a small tv. There is a heater you can control but I don't think there's air conditioning. It might be unbearable in the summer but as I was there in the winter, it didn't matter. The location is truly the reason why you would stay here. It is excellent. You are literally right in the theatre district and covent garden is 2 minutes walk away. It was great. As a solo female traveler, location was important (I didn't want to be walking around a lot alone after dark). All in all, I was happy with it. In another city, I would say this was expensive but London is probably one of the most expensive cities in the world to visit. So, that said, it was a fair deal.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 128Good location, basic, clean accommodation
The Strand Palace is in an excellent location in central London, a few blocks from Charing Cross railway station/underground. The accommodations are very basic, but adequate. My room did not have individual temperature control, and being an elderly building, it was a little chilly with the older window casements. Would recommend for basic, clean accommodations in a safe neighborhood where not much time is spent in the room.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 128Good Quality for Decent Price
I stayed there for two nights and found the club room to be small but well-appointed. The morning breakfast buffet was very nice with two kinds of eggs, two kinds of meat, fresh fruit, cereal, etc. The staff were all very pleasant.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 128Not "a Palace"
Stayed at The Strand Palace Nov. 2008 - and while the location is good, the service and hotel conditions were somewhat less-than-expected for what I paid. My view was of other interior walls - and a dead pigeon, caught in some wire. And, after a day out sightseeing, I returned to a hotel with only one working elevator - and had to climb 6 flights of stairs up and down for dinner. Staff was 'adequate' - but not always pleasant.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 128great location
I have stayed here for a number of years (about 50% of the time I visit London). It is expensive but a great location. They are remodeling the hotel and it was badly needed so if you get e remodeled room its fine, if not it's not too good.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 128Location, location, location!
The Strand Palace is the absolute best location to access all sights in London. Minutes to walk to Trafalgar Sq, Covent Gardens, British Museum, undergrnd, shops, cafes and more. Price was high for room, continental brkft not included, concierge service outstanding and made my ticket purchase easy. Bought London Eye tkt, show tket 2-day Big Bus tkt, undgrnd Express to Heathrow tkt, lots of advice on sights, times and fares. Very nice and modern, but pricy. I would stay there again based on the location.
