    Very much enjoyed the room and rate. The rooms are incredible. Wish that it were stated that there was a major New Year's Eve event going to occur and that guests were automatically invited.

    I was very dissappointed by the quality of this hotel. From the website, I had the impression that this was going to be an upscale boutique hotel with an indoor pool. The cooridors of the hotel are exterior and so is the pool (from the photos). The first negative impression is the elevator which is badly scratched because the doors don't shut properly. Then, when we entered the room there were scratches, holes, dings and dents in the walls and paint. The drains in the tub and sink weren't affixed and there was an orange goo on the bathroom ceiling. The tiles on the bathroom floor were chipped and the vent and smoke detector in the ceiling were not properly installed so there were gaps in the drywall. The bed and bedding was comfortable, but the down comforters didn't have duvets, just flat sheets on both sides of the comforter. I took pictures of all the damage in the room as well and will be sending those photos to the hotel management. The hotel has potential, but is in desperate need of repair (at least room 204 is).

Location. The Clarendon Hotel and Suites in downtown Phoenix, Ariz., is one mile from the Encanto Golf Course. The hotel is within three miles of the theatre district, Japanese Friendship Gardens and the Phoenix Convention Center. The Phoenix Convention Center is three miles away and Biltmore Fashion Park is four miles away.

Hotel Features. Phoenix's hip culture is displayed in this colorful contemporary hotel with bold geometric design and neon lights. The heated outdoor pool and spa tub area, called The Oasis, is accented by tall vertical lights and a spiral staircase. The smoke-free hotel also features a rooftop bar and lounge. The hotel's fitness center, featuring cardiovascular equipment, elliptical machines and free weights, is open 24 hours. Wireless Internet access, use of the conference rooms and business services are all complimentary.

Guestrooms. Arranged around the pool atrium, modern decor embellishes the hotel's 105 guestrooms and suites with clean lines and simple design. Rooms are furnished with dark-wood, Noguchi-style tables, George Nelson-inspired benches and works commissioned by local artists. Beds are accented with red headboards and feature down duvets and pillows. Private baths offer designer toiletries and Hansgrohe showerheads. Kimono waffle robes are included. Select rooms offer pool views and all rooms include cable television, complimentary wireless Internet access and CD players. Refrigerators are available upon request.
