Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 49HORRIBLE HOTEL
The hotel was desolate at night and difficult to find even for cab drivers. The room was dirty and reaked of smoke. I had to return the coffee pot in the morning due to a thick crust of dried up coffee being on the bottom. The staff was not friendly and upon check-out, they tried to bill me for 20 phone calls which I did not make. Additionally, they attempted to bill my credit card for the entire stay even though everything was booked through Hotels.com. I have never had a bad experience through hotels.com but this was a disaster!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 49Wow!
I could not believe my eyes when I saw this room. I tried to get the most economical value in a specific area of downtown Chicago. I ended up with a gorgeous suite on the 40th floor with a spectacular view of the city at night. Although I didn't arrive until after 11 pm I ended up staying up just to look at the lights and view. The room was appointed beautifully with full ammenities. This hotel is within short walking distance of State Street and downtown shopping. The hotel itself is extremely safe as it has full security entry. Staff are helpful and personable. I was so amazed that I got this high quality of hotel for the minimal price I paid that I had to check with the front desk to make sure I was in the right room. They replied, "You booked with Hotels.com didn't you?" I've never booked with them before and believe me I will continue to do so and tell all my friends of the wonderful experience.

Very nice hotel. Less expensive than others in the area. Great view from the 40th floor. Wifi was a little spotty, but free.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 49The Best We Have Ever Had!
Chicago is not a cheap town to visit. But it is a wonderful town. And to top off the wonder of the city, one needs a very special place to live while visiting. Look no further. The Buckingham is incredible beyond words. All the "usual" 5 stars go with this hotel, but there is so much more than any other hotel we have stayed in. We have done extensive travel, and gotten some good, some bad hotels, but most of them are simply carbon copies. Not so here. The security here is undeniably the best we have encountered, not to mention the fabulous spa and gym, which "comes with the room". The incredible robes that are supplied are cozy, comfy and oh-so-luxurious. There are even banks and shops within the building, in case you forgot that toothbrush and need cash. All forms of transportation are nearly at the front door, and you won't ask for a better location in the city, be it for business or pleasure travel. This is our "flagship" hotel from now on. All others will be measured against this one for outstanding quality and service.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 49Lovely View
We had the 'French Suite' which had a huge living/dining room with a wall of windows looking out to the lake and Buckingham fountain (off for the season). A very excellent complimentary continental breakfast was included. Live plants in the room, including a very large floor palm and a potted plant on the coffee table were a very nice touch. The pool/spa were very nice, but awkward to get to, requiring a trip through the main lobby and 3 elevator rides.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 49Surrounding Area
There are not any restaurants in the surrounding area that I felt safe to walk to as an individual. The only source of food was a sandwich shop. Convenience stores and the like are closed before 9 PM as this is the business district. There are no cabs within sight past 9 PM either.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 49Great room for the money
The room was very roomy. Furniture is somewhat dated but overall. I was very happy with my stay. If you like to work out, the Athletic club that is included is a great perk. Big variety of things to do there. Restaurants are nearby and cabs are easy to access.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 49A Jewel!
I feel like I fell into this hotel by accident, and couldn't be happier. We had a view of Navy Pier, Grant Park, the Planitarium, and Lake Michigan. All from the 40th floor. My brother was upgraded to a suite for no apparent reason.I don't know if I'll stay anywhere else when in Chicago. NOW, that said. Before you go here get SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS on how/where to enter parking, and how to get to the hotel from the parking garage. We went all over the place and it was frustrating. For example, from the parking garage you end up taking 3 elevators. If you could get an email with directions, you'd be set!
