Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 521Nice room, long wait.
The hotel was nice and the location was better than I expected, but I had the misfortune of arriving just behind a tour group, whose demands and changes overwhelmed both desk clerks. Rather than assign one desk clerk to manage the whole group, so that the other clerk could help with the growing line of customers waiting to check in, they allowed themselves to be completely occupied. I was disappointed that I had to wait nearly 35 minutes to pick up my key. Once I got to the counter my check in took 3 minutes.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 521Charming hotel
We arrived for a 3-night stay over New Year's and were expecting a standard, two bed hotel room (based on the low rate we paid.) We were blown away when entering a newly renovated living room/dining room suite with a separate full kitchen and bedroom/bath. Comfortable! Hotel has a lovely lobby with cherry wood, fireplace and stained glass. Friendly staff. Wonderful location - one block from Lake Michigan, one block from the historic Water Tower (and shopping!) Sheets a little threadbare first night, but nice the second night. Pillows were plastic and weird, but the mattress firm. We loved it and will return!

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 521great location but needs upgrades
We couldn't have been in a better location and with the economy what it was we got a great deal. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. We cooked out Christmas dinner in the hotel and staff was able to supply us with the extra utensils and pots that we needed - except the spatula. Oh well it cannot be perfect.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 521Great Hotel
the size and amenities that these suites offer is amazing. You could easily live here with the kitchen, dining room, living room and separate bedroom and bathroom. It is extremely convenient to wonderful shopping and dining. We hardly needed our bus passes. The only black spot on our experience was the staff's inability to help us figure out how to cancel a reservation when we accidentally made two.

The hotel is a great place to stay in the Chicago downtown area, however the bathroom in our room was extremely small.

Outstanding value for the money. Classical elegance with great space and location was ideal. Would recommend for families and seniors or people who would like to get a great value for their dollar and close to the Magnificent Mile. Two great restaurants are in this hotel---200 East Supper Club and The Saloon which worked perfectly for our family get togethers and are a well-kept secret--reservations are strongly suggested. We had a suite with a living room, kitchen, and a bedroom with two queen beds--dated but very comfortable.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 521Wonderful after 7 hours in car
We went to Chicago after they had had an ice storm it should have taken 3 hours but took 7. After we had arrived we were told our room was upgraded and we had the presidential suite. Very nice, lots of room, very comfortable. Would definetly stay at the Seneca again. It poured Saturday and they gave us umbrellas to use. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only downfall was a cold shower which they fixed when told about the problem.

HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL BEFORE, THE PRICE BOTH TIMES WAS GREAT AND THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT FOR WHAT WE WANTED TO DO.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 521Great accomodation!
The dual queen suite was enormous and comfortable for our family of 5. The bathroom was merely adequate in size, but very clean. The kitchen, with full size appliances (including a dishwasher) was great for breakfast and snacks. The Seneca Cafe and Saloon Steakhouse in the hotel were both outstanding, and a very good value for the money. The location is 1 block off Michigan Ave in a very quiet residential area. No sirens, taxi horns or semi-trucks to interrupt your sleep (unlikem the other side of Michigan Ave).

Wonderful old suites. Could use a little updating, but the spaciousness (except for the bathroom)and the great location make it a perfect choice for the price.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 521Wonderful Experience
I am a frequent traveler to Chicago and this was my first time staying here and I can't say enough good things about the hotel. It was everything a Business traveler would want, especially if they are taking a spouse along, which is what I did on this trip. I would highly recommend this hotel regardless if your trip is for business or pleasure.

I couldn't have asked for a better location or accommodation suited to our needs. We shopped and went to the Drury Lane theater. It was a short cab ride from union station. I am planning to make the Seneca my regular lodging during the next four years of visiting my daughter at Loyola. Staff were friendly, the suite allowed us to schedule activities around meals at our convenience.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 521Great Spot Right in the Heart of it all
The Seneca is located right behind the John Hancock building and the amazing restaurant The Signature Room, so it's location cannot be beat. Couple that with a great bargain and you've got a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is older, but well kept, and the rooms are huge, with full amenities like separate living roon, dining room and full kitchen. The rooms are essentially small 1br apartments, perfect for a weekend getaway or a week's stay. At that price and location, it can't be beat. And there's a fitness room on the top floor!
