Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 2296Didn't get the room that I paid for
I paid for a king size deluxe room. when we got there we were in a room with 2 small beds that was extremely dirty. The hotel was unable to move our rooms and said that our reservation was just a "request".

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 2296okay for the money
The room was okay. The hotel was on the strip but far from the action. If you are on a budget and plan to spend most of your time away from the hotel then you would be satisfied. We felt that there was not much to do at the hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 2296OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE
This was my very first time in Las Vegas and I must admit that I have always told myself that I wanted to go. When I booked my hotel with hotels.com, and they offered me with these awesome deals I was was very excited. After about 2 hours of looking for a hotel, I found the Sahara. The pictures were nice and they offered a great package. Not to mention that I paid for 2 nights and got the third night free!!!! When I got to the hotel, I thought that I was dreaming....the hotel Sahara was beautiful!! I went on the inside and was further WOW'd....casino, buffet bar, shops, and tourist spot that they all had fight in the hotel was great! I had a great room in the Tangiers Towers that over looked the Hilton Hotel...beutiful view. This was the greatest experience that I have had in along time and I will definate go back again. I WILL BOOK A ROOM WITH HOTEL.COM AND HOTEL.COM ONLY!!!!!! Thank you for the wonderful experince and I look forward to doing business with you again. Maurice

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 2296Front desk problems
We waited nearly an hour in line to check in because there were only two front desk staff for a very long line of guests. We were then told that the non-smoking room we had reserved and pre-paid was not available and "There is nothing I can do." The manager we asked to speak with was "not available," then, "on break -- no idea when he will return." When we refused to accept the smoking room or leave the front desk, the front desk clerk working the VIP line came over and immediately checked us into the non-smoking room we had reserved. He offered no explanation why he could do this and the other clerk could not. The rest of the stay was fine.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 2296The spirit is dead
On this visit, my fifth, it's clear that the new ownership (the Sahara was sold during 2007) has well and truly lost the spirit of the hotel from the days of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and their ilk. Basics, such as room cleanliness, were neglected. Repeated requests to have the bathroom floor cleaned of previous occupants' hair (of the short and curly variety) resulted in half-hearted attempts that merely moved the hair from one corner to another. Fitted sheets have become casualties of cost-cutting. Doormen appear to be on forty-five minute coffee breaks each hour, as they were actually at their stations an average of one time out of four (unsolicited advice to new owners: if you don't want to pay for doormen, just get rid of them completely). The saddest loss of the spirit personified by the Sinatra and Co. era was manifest by utter disinterest by much of the staff. This latest visit was cut short due to a death in the family. Of all the random strangers that I encountered while traveling from this hotel to the funeral, the staff showed the least interest. When people who are ostensibly in the hospitality business are beat out by New York cabbies for warmth and the appearance of sincerely being sorry, it's clear that something has gone rather wrong. On a positive note, the House of Lords remains one of the finest steak houses in the western United States (although, given plans stated in the hotel brochure to give the Sahara a "hip, LA nightclub-type feel" it is unclear if this outstanding restaurant will survive the facelift). Pacos is still a fun Mexican-style cantina. Both boast service that is cheerful and efficient. Bottom line: next trip to Vegas, I plan to stay somewhere else and drop in for a good steak while it remains available.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 2296Adequate for the price
It's an old hotel and it looks it but it was clean and adequate for the price. Nice that it's on the strip, can walk around so that is nice. Definitely dated hotel though - no refrigerator in room or safe for valuables. May try other hotels off the strip because all the hotels have free self-parking.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 2296Fair Hotel
Advantages: * On the Strip, * Near conveniance stores and pharmacy, * Fair room for the money. Disatvantages: * Small casino, * Limited choices in the buffet, * Front desk does not answer rooms' calls. * Furnitures is very old "Can't tell if the idea is to have rooms look as Vantage or no".
