Excellent Getaway

What a beautiful resort tucked in the hilss of San Diego. Our stay completely exceeded our expectations and gave us a much needed retreat from the day to day grind. The resort is relaxing and on a golf course, yet just a short drive from downtown San Diego. This was the best deal we have ever had for the price. Thank you hotels.com!

Outstanding

Location and setting of hotel was wonderful. Room was a bit noisy in the AM but that was due to golf cart movement on an occassionaly basis. Room was recently re-vamped and was very nice, the slight maintenance issue was resolved quickly. Entire staff treated you like you were the only guest.

Snobby Hotel

The jacuzzi did not work. We tried to cancel one of our reservations for the 2nd night as soon as we arrived since one in our party became ill and left. Hotels.com did everything in their power, but RBI insisted on saying we could not cancel and they collected our keys to the 2nd room; We had to show written confirmation to keep our 2nd room against our will! My son loved the golf! We were charged $10 parking each night even though our rental car was parked at a relative's house in Rancho Bernardo. Upon arrival, we were given our room late at 5:45 p.m.

Best Lodging Value In San Diego Area

The RB Inn is superior to other resorts in the area, including the legendary La Costa! The staff is excellent, the room perfect, and the dining among the finest in the US, actually.

Excellent but...

Loved the hotel and my room by the pool but there is an ant problem. Very small ants were everywhere; on the walls and around the sink were ever-present. I can't believe the Housekeeping staff are not aware of this problem, so I must assume there is a management problem of some sort at the hotel.

Dissapointed

Nice surroundings, grounds, neighborhood. BUT, the family above us sounded like they were staying with us in our room. We should have asked to change rooms, we hoped it would get better on its own. Additionally, the add on charges, resort fees were high. They even added on a $20.00 self parking fee to my credit card after we left. The total was close to another night.

Great room for the money!

This was a great little getaway with the kids...unfortunately, the weather was a little too cold for the pool or spa. We definitely would go back again. Note: The on-site restaurants were both a bit pricey, due to the holiday week, but that should be expected.

Would Stay Again

This place is very charming. My room was right on the golf course with a beautiful view. The room decor is very nice and the bed is oh so comfortable. There was only one issue. The heat in the building I was in was not working one day. But the staff immediately went out and bought portable heaters for the rooms that were effected by it and they worked well. They compensated me for the inconvenienc without me having to ask at all. The service here was outstanding and I wish other hotels take note of that. Yes, stay here. You will love it!

romantic weekend

We loved the stay, the hotel's employees were very attentive and the overall experience was exellent. We also visited the winery nearby for their "wine tasting experience" and that added a romantic touch to our stay. But I do think that the $10 parking fee that they charged on your way out should be noted under comments at the time you book the room, so there wont be any "surprises" on your way out.

Bait and Switch

I specifically paid for their deluxe room with a view over the course and was given their lower priced room for the same rate. I had to call maintenance to fix a leak under the sink, the shower head cover came apart from the caulking on the wall, and the heater was blowing cold air (it was raining and already 50 degrees outside). I had to call an hour later to request to be moved to another room. They stated they were going to "upgrade" me to their other rooms. When I arrived in the new room, it hit me that these were the ammenities that I reviewed on this site and had pre-paid for. The front desk clerk seemed helpful, but the manager refused to call me back or take my calls to express my concerns. Since we arrived later in the day, the next morning my wife noticed that the comforter was stained with wine and the towels had what seemed to be blood stains on them. For the price, I would have expected a lot more. This was definately Motel 6 conditions and will definately not recommend this hotel/spa to anyone.
