Decent Hotel, Good Location

This hotel met my expectations of being a safe place to sleep with the convenience of being near a metro stop and the Gare de Lyon. If it were not for the location, this hotel would not have been a good choice.

Not a Destination Hotel - But Meets Need

This was a stop-over - very close to Gare de Lyon (TGV from Avignon - overnight in Paris before returning to USA). Is a two-star hotel - and met the expectations. Room was small but certainly adequate.

Bad Value, Inadequate Service but Excellent Location

Although the photos show a modern hotel, they only represent a section of the very small lobby and breakfast room. The service was appalling and the "concierge" seemed very unhappy to be there, especially the night staff. The elevator is very, very small and can barely fit 2 people with carry on luggages. If you had a full size suitcase, you would have to ride the elevator alone. The bathroom was very clean, but small. There is no room service or any service at all. I did not even want to call the front desk to ask for a lightbulb replacement. They seem to not care at all and were happy to see us check out! The walls are very thin, so bring ear plugs. You can even smell the cigarette smoke through the room. Do not stay here unless you have no other choice. I went during the Rugby World Cup, so rooms were all sold out unfortunately. The plus is that the train station and metro is very near with many restaurants in the vicinity.

Great spot near the train

This hotel was a stopover as we were making our way back to paris from the Alps, and it was perfect for that. It was a quarter mile from Gare de Lyon and it was clean efficient with good service. The room was small but typical for paris and the bathroom felt brand new. I would highly recommnend Relais as a budget hotel. It offers excellent value.
