Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort

A Real Treat!

The Moana Surfrider hotel was by far one of the best hotels I've ever visited. The room was wonderful, but above all, I'll remember the outstanding level of service we received from check in to check out. Try the Mai Tai and the Hawaiian Punch (neither are for minors) at the poolside bar.

Excellent Hotel

Charming and historic hotel with an excellent location. Be sure to ask for the updated or recently remodeled rooms. Caution: rooms facing street can be a bit noisy in the early evening. Lots of nooks and crannies where one can sit and read or just relax with beautiful views. Peculiar requirement to reserve poolside or beach chairs one day in advance. The only real negative was extremely slow service in the Banyon Tree Bar, rear patio area. We had to conatantly get up and go to the bar and ask for service (minor annoyance).

Beautiful and Elegant

The Moana Surfrider is very beautiful and elegant. We really enjoyed our stay, it was a very memorable stay.

Ocean View

Our "Deluxe Ocean View" room was nice; a corner double with two balconies. However one faced north to the mountains over looking the street and the other faced Diamond Head. I was, however, assured by the front desk that the room was rated as "Deluxe Ocean View". Our stay was very enjoyable ... I was just expecting more ocean in my view.

Great hotel, pricy, but what the hell !

Great place, great location. Busy beach but perfect for people watching. Fantastic beach front courtyard around an ancient Banyon Tree...Terrific entertainment, (music)each evening... Very close to Dukes and the Hulu Grill.

Noise

The Hotel is nice but don't get a room facing the street because you won't be able to sleep due to the noise of the street drummers and the people at the hotel will say they cannot do anything about it. Also, be sure to ask about the policy for booking umbrellas on the beach, because they have a "reservation in advance" rule that is only known by the regulars and/or locals.

Our favorite hotel

We have stayed in the Moana Surfrider three times. We continue to return to this hotel because of its outstanding location on Waikiki beach, the excellent service and the classic feel of the "First Lady of Waikiki." We have stayed in rooms in both the original wings of the hotel and the tower. Rooms in the original wings are significantly smaller but have more charm. The ocean view tower rooms are simply outstanding - they are huge and luxurious. We will have many more stays at the Moana Surfrider.

A little late check out = A big bill

This is a great and historic hotel in the heart of Waikiki. It is classy, and certianly gets you "away" from the normal Waikiki atmosphere, yet is very conveniently located. Dukes next door a big plus. After spending an egregious amount of money at the hotel, with two two rooms, we asked if we could get a late check out of only two hours! We were told that we could but it would be $50.00 per room per hour - That is enough to take the Aloha Spirit you just gained from a great expereince right out of your sail! As my Mainland friends would say - that is NOT very Aloha :-(

Great Experience

We had a lovely stay at this hotel....our room was very comfortable...hotel staff extremely accomodating....friendly desk...great food...pool clean....would highly recommend this hotel

extreme comfort in paradise

WE JUST LOVED OUR STAY AT THE MOANA SURFRIDER. THE BEDS WERE HEAVENLY, SUCH COMFORT. GREAT LOCATION, EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM THE STAFF. MUSIC STARTED A LITTLE TOO EARLY IN THE BANYAN WING. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE A GUEST LAUNDRY AVAILABLE, BUT THE DRYERS DID NOT WORK WELL AND THEY WERE OUTDATED.

Very Happy

The service at the Moana Surfrider was outstanding. You're greeted with leis, lemongrass green tea, and professional service at the check-in desk. There is attention to detail, down to changing of the welcome mats in the elevator to reflect morning and evening. The room was clean and the decor was a nice combination of classic and modern. Great view (I would recommend an ocean view, NOT city view), pretty bathroom, and very comfy bed. The only things that could have made it better was if the safe had been bolted down so it would've been useable, if the window could have been opened all the way, and if the tv were placed at a better angle in relation to the bed. But all things considered, it was comfortable and romantic. The location in Waikiki is perfect. You're beachfront, surrounded by restaurants, and right across from the International Marketplace. I had a great time celebrating my anniversary here.
