Outstanding Hotel

cant be happier, but the location makes it hard for valet to be efficent.

What I Expected

The only negative was a fairly dirty public restroom in the 2nd floor restaurant. My room was excellent. A valet drove us to a downtown restaurant in a flash.

Elegant and fun

Considering the ammenities, location, and price, this was an awesome place. We stayed here for new years and had a blast. Right downtown and walking distance to several clubs and restauarnts, great little pool and hot tub on the roof. Great fun and a super comfortable bed.

better be for the price

i have no complaints. everything was really clean and neat. those are always my main concerns. happy hour was nice. we ordered room service (it was pricey, but you have to expect that at a hotel like this) and the service was nice. the guy on the phone and the guy who delivered the food were very nice. the only issue i had is the clerk who checked us out had a bit of an attitude and wasnt nice at all. she couldnt even crack a smile. other than that, i enjoyed my stay and intend on going back.

Great hotel, but there is room for improvement

Hotel met my expectations for the most part. Areas of improvement are the exceedingly slow complimentary shuttle service, shower water pressure, number of robes in the room, and plushness of pillows. Although nice, I expected the size of the room to be larger.

Impressive

From the layout of the spread in the morning to the amenities in the room, I really was surprised by my new years accomodations. The only complaint I would have is I dont like powdered creamer by the in room coffee maker. Otherwise, I felt spoiled the whole time.

One Issue

Everything was excellent except we had slow service at the 2nd floor restaurant and bar. There was an excessive wait for our order and two another people in our party got there orders forgotten. However, saying that the hotel is fantastic. Easy checkout, clean, comfortable rooms, and polite and efficient front desk service.

Nice New Year's Eve at Magnolia

Went to Magnolia for New Year's Eve. Very nicely decorated, spotless room, location in walking distance to lots of downtown Houston's New Year's activities. Hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable of downtown activities. Complimentary Happy Hour and "cookies and milk hour" were unexpected and very nice. Nice bar and beautiful lobby. Will book again.

Super hotel!

The hotel was fantastic overall- nice staff, great atmosphere and decor. The bar had tasty food. The room was very nice with a jacuzzi tub and comfortable bed. Will definitely stay here on the next trip!

Free Upgrade!!

We stayed at the Magnolia for our anniversary and they upgraded us to a suite for free! We weren't just upgraded to the JR Suite, we got the big one!! It was very nice but was clearly not restocked after new year's eve. We were missing paper towels and one robe was left on the back of the bathroom door and was clearly dirty. I am sure they were overwhelmed cleaning everything after all the party's so I will forgive that. The happy hour and free cookies an milk are a nice touch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! If you are looking for a nice restaurant, go to Cava Bistro. It is 2 blocks away and a wonderfully romantic place. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and night life. We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary!!!

Fix the parking issue and you will be outstanding ...

Definitly everyone should read the revews before their stay. The hotel is without a doubt GREAT! Small Hotel boutique type, modern, room pleasant, great beds,quiet neiborghood, bathroom clean..... location for us, perfect!!! we were going for a show at the Toyota Center 1 mile way (complementary shuttle), great complemantary buffet breakfast even though you have to go early ...   but the "problem" is the parking. The hotel does not have a parking so you have to valet $25 yes !!! I suspected it would be included in the room. I asked checkin in if it was and the girl said yes !!!! she did not stand out for herself at check out. After reading the revews I found out I was not the only one unhappy about the $25 Valet Parking. So park in the back they say there is parking for $5/day, $25 is over the top!!!But if it is your only issue fix it include in the price room and you will be a five stars Hotel at no time!!!
