The Rouge was a pleasant surprise considering the amount I paid. I will always stay here when in D.C.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 3 of 185For the price I expected less but got more
In terms of decor, this is not your visually traditional/basic/corporate looking type of hotel. If you are looking for something different, bright, red, colorful & affordable this would be the place to stay. The plus side was the staff, service, location, convenience...the additional things one may forget (tooth brush, hairdryer...were for free while other things such as a night gown or bath robe can be charged to your bill if used). Theres a work out facility, 1 internet computer to rent per 15 min... I stayed in a 1 queen size bed that had a TV, Cable, internet connection & fridge which is a plus for me)...When there ask for a higher floor especially if you are there on a Fri & Sat cause it can get a bit noisy especially in the summer time...The one major flaw was the bed sheets. I was itchy & scratching which I thought there were bed bugs or something like that. The following night I had no problems.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 185Excellent hotel, great location, friendly and helpful staff.
My daughter and I fell in love with this hotel. It was everything that we expected, and so much more. Upon our arrival,we were greeted by the friendliest staff in Washington, D.C. who made us feel very much at home.It is located close to the Dupont Circle and Farragut North Metro Stations. There are many Great restaurants, as well as a CVS drugstore,Safeway and Whole Foods market. We felt very safe walking back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing. Should you decide to stay at the Hotel Rouge during your next visit to Washington, D.C., you will not be dissapointed.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 185Awesome!
Very nice hotel, especially if you like the color red...as "all thins red" at this hotel. Rooms are big, flat screen tv's, mini bar in room, valet parking and a great bar downstairs. Enjoyed this hotel very much!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 185Perfect for Logan Circle/Dupont Scenegoers
The location is perfect if you are going to be hitting Logan and Dupont Circle areas and all the bars and restaurants there. For a sightseeing weekend, it's within walking distance of the White House. The rooms are well apportioned and a good size, with kitchy decorating touches. Internet is free. One critique: the lobby is too small to be the hangout lounge they're trying to make it. In fact, they need to reconsider the layout of the entire first floor to make better use of the space. Tips: --Make it downstairs for the complimentary bloody marys and cold pizza at 11AM --Skip the continental breakfast and walk to Whole Foods and Starbucks to get coffee and food. --Suck it up and get the valet parking unless you know the area

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 185Half good, half bad, 100% red
After reading the reviews and such, the "red" wasn't all that much of a shock - the decor and the furnishings were fun and interesting (although a little less of the "walk on the wild side" carpeting would have been nice). However, the service of the front desk staff left something to be desired. We did not find them to be overly helpful or very sincere. Bloody Mary's and cold pizza sounded... uh, nice - but perhaps that's because of the emphasis on being trendy and having a hip image. Sorry, we'll take better service over image any day. The room itself was comfortable (king size) and of course, furnished in the same red theme. A flat-screen television was nice (although the standard, non-HD cable service sort of ruined it), and the HVAC worked well. The bed itself was comfortable - the pillows, not (ask the front desk for different ones, but we didn't know we had to defend ourselves and justify why). The bathroom felt a little cramped (and lacked a ventilation fan - prepare for a steamed room after a shower). Room service was timely and not that bad - we had breakfast a few times, and it was good but pricey, considering a few dirty utensils, missing condiments, etc. Location-wise, it's very close to the rest of the downtown area, and very close to Dupont Circle (we recommend Zorba's Cafe!). But after a day of walking around the monuments, the walk back to the hotel felt like an eternity. All in all, we'd still recommend the hotel to friends wanting to stay in D.C., if only for the unique experience. Sadly, we'd have to say it's an experience with a both ups and downs.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 185Outstanding Hotel with Exceptional Service
While on business, my husband and I wanted a affordable hotel, convenient location in Dupont Circle for sightseeing, dining and walking to our business meetings. The regular room seemed like a suite, the service was impeccable and we loved the attention to RED, especially complimentary red wine during their daily social hour. We will come back and recommend to others.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 185Enjoyable stay
I was used to staying right at Dupont Circle. This hotel stood out for value. While it is a walk to the subway, it is a nice walk and the location is fine. There is a Whole Foods and restaurants close by. The hotel staff were exceptionally attentive and the room was fine. A little dated but clean and comfortable. For the price I would saty again for sure.

This hotel exceeded our expectations mainly due to the accommodations and hotel staff. We found everything in great order, and the management was outstanding and quite helpful.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 185Good Place to Stay, but Needs Improvement
Great location! Hotel needs improvement in cleanliness (bathtub & sink were not clean). Tub was slippery due to soap residue (recommend using the bathmat they provide).

The hotel was in an excellent location, and the staff was very friendly. Parking was very expensive. The hotel bath tub and sink didn't appear to be clean (tub was slippery from soap and shampoo residue). Use the bathmat provided. I think some cleanser may improve the situation (didn't smell clean either). Other than the tub, I would recommend staying here (good value for location and size/comfort of room). If you can, find parking elsewhere.
