Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 27Close to Metro!
This hotel was just fine... Positioned well as it's just a few blocks from Gard du Nord metro station (with a line to the airport). Lots of restaurants in the area. Be aware that there are a lot of "gypsies" who hang outside the metro station just be aware of that. In general I didn't feel unsafe in the area. The staff were extremely nice and always present (slept downstairs at night in hotel). The room was small and not air conditioned, so just be aware of the weather when you go here. All in all it was fine!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 27not worth it
room was small, looked delapidated, nothing like the pictures. check in was suppose to be 1:00, room wasn't ready till 1:30. WORST OF ALL, I asked for a taxi to the Gare de L'est because it was raining outside. Guy at the desk said he couldn't get one, that it was too close. I walked 15 minutes in the pouring rain and caught a bad cold. NO ONE SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE THIS!

Great location as noted in other reviews. Cheap. You get what you pay for: don't be disapointed - be forewarned.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 27Location great, rooms not so great
On the plus side the hotel was very conveniently located near the Gare du Nord and the Metro. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The (included in the room price) breakfast was a plus. When they ran out of croissants, someone was immediately despatched to the Bakery next door to buy more. On the minus side, the elevator was too small to accommodate our luggage, so we had to carry it up to our fourth floor room. The room was tiny, no tea or coffee available, and the bedsprings could be felt through the mattress. The TV light could not be switched off and shone in our faces all night. We eventually draped a towel over it. Our towels were not replaced during our 3 day stay.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 27Don't Stay at Hotel De Maubeuge
We choose this hotel because it was close to the Eurostar rail station. We passed two adult shops walking to the hotel and once there were not impressed. The man was nice enough, but the room smelled of urine and looked like something out of a bad summer camp cabin. Needless to say, we walked away from our expense of the night and actually went back to London!

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 27Your Home Away From Home in Paris
I was showing my daughter Paris for the first time and with very little money we booked this hotel thru this site. Considering the price this hotel deserves another star - apparently under new ownership, they bent over backwards to treat us like family. We paid in advance and they were ready for us - we checked in they gave us our key and greeted us everytime we came in or out. Its only a block from the Gare Du Nord which gets you anywhere in Paris via the Metro or internationally by train. They have internet for their guests and a cute little restaurant and will go out and get you whatever you want if they dont have it. We love this little hotel and will come back whenever we can.

The Hotel de Maubeuge, Gare du Nord has to be about the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We asked for a family quadrupedal, but they gave us a double room and pretended not to understand when we asked to pay the double room price instead of the quadrupedal. The "view" of the Eiffel tower is technically if you hang off the balcony and look down the street you can view the very top of it. The bathroom smelled like molding cheese, which the staff tried to remedy by leaving the bathroom door open and open all the windows, which would have been a good plan, maybe, if it hadn't been raining all day. For the first two days we were there they didn't change the sheets they just dressed the bed with the dirty sheets and when we finally checked out early to go to a better hotel, they demanded that we pay the tax on the room and wouldn't give us a refund for the rest of the days we would not be staying. This was our honeymoon and they ruined the first days of it. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason, there are plenty of other hotels in the area.

While clearly not an outstanding hotel it was what was needed, a clean safe place to sleep. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The location was close to good cafes and the Gare du Nord Metro station.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 27Great Location! Great Hotel for the price
Location, Location, Location! Great location, close to the Gard Du Nord (Paris Nord)train station. From this station there's access to all the Paris subway lines and also all the international train lines. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The bathroom is small but hey, I'm only visiting so I don't care. As long as I could shower etc I was fine. Shower curtain in the bathroom needs to be longer because water from the shower splashes out to the bathroom floor. Nice room decor with Flat screen TV (everything on the TV was in French that kinda sucked). No A/C but the temperature in Mid-July when I was there was relatively comfortable so I didn't feel like I was in an oven...I even had to use the blankets at night. The front desk staff was pleasant and very accomodating, catering to all of my requests quickly. Nice hotel for the price and that location is very very hard to beat!

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 27HOTEL COMMENSURATE WITH RATE
Hotel staff was polite and spoke English, a rarity in France. Elevator could accommodate only one guest and his/her luggage. Room was smallest I have ever seen; there was just enough space to stand between the bed and the bathroom. Shower was stand-in, and the bathroom was small but comfortable in that it had hot and cold water. TV was up on a bracket and all shows were in French. Staff saved us money by suggesting local buses to take us to Eiffel Tower and Arch de Triomphe, great shawarma restaurant near the Gare du Nord railway station, and a walk to the Sacre Coeur! Note: English breakfast is a rarity, and accept the French breakfast in the breakfast room for 9 euros with a smile!! Hotel safely kept our luggage in its hold until we returned in the evening to catch our train to Madrid!

You get what you pay for. Being close to Gare du Nord is the reason why we stayed at this hotel as we had an early morning flight. We stayed at a much nicer 2 star hotel earlier in the trip. The hotel was not clean and very cramped. The bathroom was SMALL (couldn't sit straight forward on the toilet)...
