Trendy Hotel For Twenty-Somethings

I did not like: - WiFi did not work in my room. When I inquired about this, they told me the "weather" was probably screwing with it...yeah, sure, the weather. WiFi worked in all of the general areas of the hotel though. - Pillows are way too soft, and it was very difficult to find a sweet spot on the beds. - AC/Heater in the room is extremely loud and is very annoying when trying to sleep. - Continental breakfast is fantastic(!!), but they ask you to tip...very annoying considering you serve yourself. I liked: -Location is absolutely perfect. There is a whole foods store around the corner, a seven eleven across the street, nearby clubs, and the Magnificent Mile is a short 5 minute walk away. -iPod dock in the room is of very high quality, and the TV was great with a good selection of channels. -See if you can get a corner room with windows surrounding you on two sides; the view is very nice, especially if it snows. -Continental breakfast is very good with a large selection of food and beverages. Best part of my morning. -Concierge is very knowledgeable and was able to give us directions to various places with ease. -Able to print boarding passes in the "business" area. -The shower in the room was amazing...you have to see and experience it to believe it. Outside of the WiFi not working in my room, the hotel was almost perfect. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend it to friends. You will love it.

Good Hotel

This hotel was very good. The rooms were comfortable. The lounge and the restaurant are recommended. Had a little trouble with the heater in the room. They had crew come and fix it while were in the room. Took about an hour. Didn't receive anything for the inconvenience.

Outstanding value

Our family booked 3 rooms for 2 night during 2008 Christmas/New Year holiday season. We all loved our rooms. The bathroom and amenities exceeded expectation. Loved the floor to ceiling windows. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Location was fabulous for us. We used the wi fi and fitness facility. Complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. I would not hesitate to return to the Dana Hotel or recommend it to friends and family. Only complaint was the maid service was slow to make up the room.

great pampering

Very luxurious for the hotels.com reduced rate. Wonderful bed, electronics, view, restaurant in-house. One recommendation: If you would like spa services, book them in advance. I was unable to schedule a massage/facia in the 2 nights/3 days I was there.

Good hotel for a couple's getaway

The hotel is contemporary, which we liked. The barstaff on the first floor was friendly and talkative. The room was clean and had a nice view of State Street. The tv was large. The shower window into the room gave made for a romantic stay. Overall pleased with the hotel. Ended the getaway with a couple's massage at the spa.

Great find

Go to chicago quite often and stay in many hotels. found this accidently and was far above other hotels we have stayed in including the ones on michigan ave. they were very friendly, room was great and bed was to die for. luv ceiling to floor windows and location. will be staying there many time in the future i assure you.

Great View

Room had an awesome view, all windows. Only two very minor issues with the room. The room was on the small side, and it had a little too much open-ness.IOW, the bathroom can be in plain view of the rest of the room.

Great View!

We had a great time staying at this hotel. Staff were great and extreamly friendly! The bed was fantastic, and the view from our room was even better! The continental breakfast was great as well. We really enjoyed our time here and would come back again for sure. The only thing we did not like was that our room had an open hole in the ceiling that had piping and insulation exposed, which seemed odd. Also still had some blue painters tape in spots on the ceiling. Otherwise, it was great and we would recomend it for sure!

Great service and location but choose room carefully

Positives: modern decor; rooms on NE and SE (State St) side have plenty of light; extremely friendly and helpful staff; excellent location for shopping, restaurants, theater. Negatives: rooftop lounge draws young local crowd - who have loud, drunken conversations in lobby and elevator; rooms can be frigid (stayed at the hotel over 3 wintry nights) due to large expanse of glass; restaurant was pricey

recent dana hotel stay 12/ 18 - 12/20- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I travel to Chicago almost monthly and had been staying at the Hotel 71, which has been sufferring due to an incompleted renovation. I decided to try the DAna based on ome reviews and it absolutely is my new favorite boutique hotel in Chicago.. I dont think its ideal for families, but for business travel or a getaway w/ the other half - it was fantastic. Clean,amazingly comfofrtable even for a small room, the decor was hip without trying to be pretentious. Little touches like VERY reasonably priced water and unique snacks in the honor bar showed how easy it was to offer something you might want on a whim, without charging obsccene amounts.. the gym / spa were excellent as was the restaurant / bar downstairs.. The club on the penthouse had a good scene as well.. CAnt wait to go back! Greatstaff also! Steve S.

Excellent New Option

New in the past year, very contemporary with nice views from the upper floors. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location to shopping, easy to get cabs, and good choices nearby for a quick meal. Free breakfast was simple but adequate.
