Custom Hotel

Modern and fun, with a few quarks...

I stayed at the custom hotel for new years this year. It was a very nicely and simply designed hotel with easy acceess to parking. There was some construction directly next door but it did not interfere with our stay. While the hotel was offering a bar/pool party, it was over priced at $100 per person and the hotel guests did not get a discount for staying there. Minus that and a few other things it was overall a great stay. I would recomend this hotel for the price range.

Smooth

Nice, modern and sleek. Great water pressure in bathroom. Intimate gym facilities but ample. The bedding was great. Desk with internet that gave my Mac no problems. A fun hotel, that seems more like it belongs in New York or some very cosmopolitan area other than in Los Angeles near the airport and Loyola University. The hotel also has a great pool area. I didn't order room service so I cannot give any spin on that. Custom also has a large vending area stocked with alot of novelty crap that I deem not very useful. This vending area has potential to provide some great stuff! The staff was cool.

Fantastic for the price

This was a fun modern hotel. We got a fantastic price for this nice hotel with talking elevators, sleek rooms, and conveniently located restaurant. Downsides were the location, though great if you are going to LAX, and no dresser or table, but so stylish, who cares?

bed was comfortable, and room was not lighted well, also the enormous pics in the elevators were kinda creepy but cool...

Good Place to Stay

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The pricing it not to outrageous, if you pick the top rooms you have a wonderful view. The hotel has it's own unique modern style that is pretty cool.

Decent stay for the money but beware...

The location was great. I love being able to walk 1 minute to the grocery store because I always want snacks at regular prices. But the decor isn't great. It feels like a wanna-be Halloween scene. I could definitely do without it. The hallways were extra dim, and as a single woman staying alone it did NOT make me feel comfortable. Also, the free wi-fi was not working for SEVERAL hours which was completely inconvenient. The rooms are small but doable. When I got there the bathroom toilet was GROSS! All in all, for the price I think I could have done better, but the location and the fact that there was street parking outweighed the negatives.

Fun hotel

The reviews here are going to slam this hotel's attempt at being modern and stylish, but I think that's a critics' bias. The people who liked it, like myself, are probably not going to vocalize it out of concern of looking unhip. Anyway, I had fun here. There were cool designs to the rooms and artistic flourishes here and there. It definitely took me out of the monotonous grind of passing through LAX and sitting in cabs. If you enjoy going to museums and looking at art, you'll like this place, because it feels like being in a museum.

Good Value

Good value for the money. My first stay was very unpleasant as I heard the elevator all night long. This last time, I asked to be away from the elevator and the stay was very nice. There aren't desks or dressers, and that was inconvienent, but for the price and location, it can't be beat.

great room but could use concierge

This hotel is in a great location, one of the best things was that it was on bus routes that could get you everywhere in LA you might want to go. There were also good restaurants in walking distance. However, the desk staff didn't know this. The hotel could use a concierge or at least an area with bus maps and restaurant guides.

Great stay, but...

The Custom is perfect if you like your hotels spare, clean, convenient and very mod. The rooms are spartan but comfortable, and the dining areas are great. Very much a hotel for the younger social crowd. It's very close to LAX, which makes it quite convenient. My only complaint is that while m car was with the valet, the front windshield somehow became cracked. We'll see how the hotel's valet contractor resolves the matter.

Fair value for the money

Hotel not suitable with guests with small children. Front desk staff was not helpful in finding a microwave oven to warm my baby's milk and would not offer any suggestions. Parking is also a problem and only valet parking available at $20 per night is available which adds greatly to the overall cost. Room was very small, however,on the positive side, the decor of the room was somewhat interesting and innovative although the dark colors gave the hotel a somewhat somber appearance.
