Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 83Great Value
Spent three nights at the hotel in December. Great location just two blocks from the High St Kensington Station. Great shops and resturants in the neighborhood. Service from the staff was outstanding. Very friendly and knowedgable of the area. Rooms are small but I can't complain based on what we paid. Would have cost three times that much if it was NYC at Christmas.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 83Great Hotel in Heart of South Kensington
The hotel staff is very helpful. Whether you need directions, restaurant suggestions, 1 day tours, or theatre tickets...they will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is just 3 blocks from the High Street Kensington tube station. You can get to anywhere in the city once you are on the tube system. Kensington Palace/Gardens and Hyde Park are just down the street. The neighborhood itself was great. There are many shops right around the corner from the hotel. There is even a Tesco's grocery store 2 blocks away. I found the rooms to be very comfortable with a view of the Kensington area. I also found them to be very quiet. No city noise whatsoever. If you need a taxi, there are plenty right outside the hotel entrance. I have travelled to London many times staying at various hotels. I would definitely stay here again with the deal they offered.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 83Enjoyed Our Stay
During our Honeymoon we chose to stay at the Copthorne Tara Hotel because of its location and price. From the outside this hotel doesn't offer the best first impression but it more than makes up for it on the inside. When we landed in London it was 6:30am. By the time we made it through customs and to our hotel it was roughly 9am but our check in time wasn't until 2:30pm. We made our way to the counter to see if we could check our bags but the receptionist had a better idea. She checked us into our room a half a day early! After being up for 24+ hours, that first shower was amazing. We couldnt have asked for much more during our 6 night stay. The staff was friendly, clean room, fresh towels when needed, and great water pressure/temp. The only thing that could make the stay more enjoyable would be for cheaper internet. Other than that, we had no complaints and would stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 83Great room for location
This hotel was fairly reasonable as compared to other hotels in London. It was clean and comfortable with two twin beds, but room was fairly small as is common in that area. The hotel had two restaurants, coffee shop, gift shop, a attraction ticket desk, and money exchange booth. The location was very close to High Street Tube Station. Also there were eateries and stores at that station. The personnel were very friendly and accommodating.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 83Surprising Disappointment
Looks like an exciting place, but strictly amateur hour and definitely not 4 stars. At least not now. They give you a hard, slow time at check-in, our shower curtain was yellow and brown and dirty at the bottom, the wallpaper was coming apart at the seams in the bathroom, and there was a crack in the ceiling. The windowsill was filthy. No view. They seem not to understand the idea of 'customer service'. Though we booked a double, they were stingy and put only one set of towels and one shampoo in the bathroom. We had to call housekeeping for towels. Massages were disappointing, weak, and phoned-in, and we left feeling like we needed to book a couple of real massages. The exceptions were exceptional: the concierges were wonderful, however, and the Brasserie restaurant food was good, great service, with a waiter named John who treated the diners like royalty. But then you go to buy Sunday newspapers and none of them came with the supplements! Why? For the money, there are better hotels in this neighbourhood. Hotels who care. Cleaner, too!

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 83definitely needs a facelift but still a good experience and value
The hotel is really ugly from the outside but inside is fine - just badly in need in redecorating... the rooms and hallways look a bit shabby. What makes the hotel worthwhile is the overall quality of service and comfort and the location. One drawback is breakfast is overpriced and not particularly interesting but with High Street Kensington 2 blocks away, there is no shortage of places to eat any meals. I have stayed there a few times and will again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 83A very convenient hotel
The place was clean and in a good neighborhood. Only a three-minute walk from Kensington High Street tube station, so it's very conveniently located.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 83Great location, value, and service
We were pleased to find our room exactly as advertised, and very comfortable. LOVED the deep tub. Just a couple of blocks from the High Street Kensington tube station, and within (long) walking distance of the Hard Rock Cafe and London sights. Fabulous front desk service. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Great location but room did not look like 4-star hotel room. Continental breakfast was convenient. Loved the complimentary wine.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 83good value and very convenient
For a business traveller it had what you need and more affordable than comparables. Best thing #1 location. Best thing #2 - tube stop 5 minutes walk. Worst thing price of breakfast - though very good and big buffet, but there are other options in the neighborhood.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 83Loved the concierge (Alex)
Alex the concierge was very helpful and patient with us -- we needed to contact an airline, and she waited on the phone til we got the right person. She also helped us with our Eurostar cancellation (due to the fire the previous week). Hotel location is super! Loved the Whole Foods and Tessco nearby (besides the convenient Kensington High Street tube stop). I would love to stay at the Copthorne Tara again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 83Great room for the money
Great location. 3 blocks away from the metro and in an upscale neighborhood. very safe and very quiet- it was at the end of a dead-end street. this hotel was obviously built with cement because you could not hear any other guest or noise in the building. there was a Whole Foods supermarket 5 blocks away and our room had a safe & refridgerator. we ate breakfast every morning in our room and made sandwiches every day. Good size room, crisp white linens, awesome shower, great AC, AWESOME room service food (i had the fish & chips). they held our bags all day for us and they were very nice. Low marks for: gym was an extra fee (7.50/day), breakfast was insanely expensive ($40/person) if you wanted it, and the staff oddly didn't speak english too well and the girls at the front desk were not very helpful. For me, i've been to London 20 times and i didn't want or need the gym, breakfast, or help from the front desk. just be aware if it is your first time to London and you need more "handholding" that the staff isn't super knowledgeable. i was VERY happy with this hotel and it exceeded my expectations.
