The Congress Plaza is a nice hotel. Its very vintage but very comfortable. Has great views of Chicago skyline and the lake. Only downfall is the walking distance to the main attractions near magnificant mile. But it gets you away from most of the ruckus. Valet parking is terrific and not too expensive.

Convient stay after the Bears game. I was just looking for a bed to crash on. I expected the worst. But the hotel was nice inside. It is an older building, so it feels older, but LCD TV in the room and the king size bed were nice. My only issue was the L-Train was close by and made noise periodically - that was just a little annoying, but I was so tired, I quickly got used to it and passed out. Overall, I would say a bigger bang for the buck than expected. I was pleasantly surprised. I felt safe and would reccomend if you just need a place to stay overnight.

The hotel had great service, the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. It is in a great location right on Michigan ave. Nothing to really complain about.

The Congress Hotel has history and being built around 1850's the history is what you have to love because for the same price you could stay two blocks up at the Hilton which is 4.5 stars. The rooms are much smaller at the Congress nice view though of Michigan ave and lake. The Congress has updated a little but try to keep the hotel as close to original form.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 1225Dumb Staff, Nice Hotel
The staff at this hotel is dumb and rude. I had reserved three rooms on my credit card, but had a different person assigned to each room. They couldn't understand that one of our party wasn't yet there, and that I wanted to leave their room key at the desk. Considering this person's name was already in their system, it was pretty frustrating. Then when that person showed up, they couldn't find them in the computer or the key at the desk. They were rude and short with us at every point, even though they were the ones making mistakes. That said, the rooms are newly remodeled and in a great location. The hotel was built in the 1800s, so the rooms, especially the bathrooms, are somewhat small. However, they're really clean and well appointed. Overall, I would stay here again. Just avoid the front desk!
