Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 293PM maintenance
Worked well for us. Have been there before. The toilet flush handle broke in the evening. The desk man came up and said he couldn't fix it as the tools were "locked up". We told him that was unacceptable--what are we supposed to do? Soon there was a knock on the door and the repair person who just happened to be at the comic club in the hotel came up. Said the desk man found him and asked him to come. Lucky.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 293Great Location and Bang for your Buck!
My friend and I were visiting Vancouver BC for the very first time. I was very hesitant at first to book the Century Plaza Hotel based on the pricing per night. Most hotels from my city (San Francisco, CA) that are price this low are usually the dingy, low maintenance hotels. Nevertheless, I was on a budget and booked it. To my surprise, the hotel was outstanding! Lobby was nice and retro chic. Hotel room was pretty clean for a "boutique" hotel. The plus side to it was that it was big for it's size. The down side to it was that they really need to update the style to match that of the lobby. A tube TV?... retro but not up to standards. What I like most about this place was that it was central to everything! Robson St. is the best place to shop and it is only 2 blocks away from there. Actually, I never had to rent a car because it was close to EVERYTHING! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget visiting Vancouver. It exceeded my expectations for a low priced hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 293Excellent Value For The Price
As other reviews have noted, the hotel rooms are showing their age to some extent--curtain didn't pull closed real well, some paint scuffing, etc. However, having said that--the room included a stove, microwave, refrigerator and cooking utensils, which we always find convenient for a nice breakfast. The room was large and clean, with a nice bathroom, and with only 8 or nine rooms on each floor there was little noise from other guests. The location is incredibly convenient to shopping on Robson, and Davie, and a quick walk to anywhere in downtown Vancouver. Internet access was available at an extra charge, but was free in the lobby--which was great for getting done what we needed and people watching. The hotel is an excellent value considering the price, location and amenities.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 293Room needs major renovations
The hotel lobby was good but that's where it ends. The room was spacious but cold and dingy and didn't have light. The bed sheet covers and the comforter looked like they were purchased from salvation army. The sheets were rough, flimsy and uncomfortable. The heater does not go up more than 30 degree Celsius and it was cold all night in the middle of October. To their credit the bath room was OK and had modern looking sink.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 293First Impressions are not what you get....
I had been in the lobby of this hotel before our stay. It is modern, bright, and looks like a place I would stay. WOW, the rooms are nothing like what the lobby shows. The rooms have not been updated. Curtains with holes, toilet seats that move around, doors that don't close are just some of the "atmosphere" items that we had. However, at the top of the list was the fact that there is no A/C in the rooms to speak of. In addition, the "central heat" had been turned on in the building. They did not manage to turn it off when the warm weather returned. We ended up suffering with temps around 80 the first night. I should have been worried when I saw a stand fan in the bedroom. Feels morelike a stay with family vs hotel. Service is not up to standard as well. We were told the reason we did not get the bed choice we wanted was because of last min. reservation. Nicer rooms available but not offered as an option?? Will not be back !

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 293needs improvement
the first 5 min when me and my friend parked in the hotel parking and dropped the bags in the rooms - we received a call from reception that our cars have been broken in. there was not much support from the stuff, nor curtsey at all. I was very frustrated because we had a big day the next day. Anyhow it appeared that this is close to a rehab... :) So keep that in mind. it is a good location but you have to be very conscious about your belongs cause no one will help you!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 293Great
Was very pleased with the hotel. Also liked the fact that it had some form of entertainment such as comedy club. The only down side was that the same comedy club act was back to back with the same program. It would have been nice if they changed the program with different jokes.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 293Very nice hotel
This was our 3rd stay at the Century Plaza and as always, the hotel was lovely and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. I really like the new lobby remodel - very modern and trendy. The restaurant was nice and we enjoyed our breakfast although the server seemed like he was inexperienced. We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite on the 19th floor since we had booked a regular room so we had a full kitchen, separate bedroom and living room. The rooms could use some updating as well but the view from the corner suite was beautiful! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

It seemed that a lot of things were broken. Our phone would not work most of the time and the shower did not work well. The shower also kept flooding the bathroom since it was not working properly and the curtains were too short. Our friends in the room next door had to change rooms in the middle of the night since their couch bed would not pull out. The nicest thing about the hotel was the lobby.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 293Nice interior space
Although the exterior design of the building is not new, the lobby space, cafe, restaurant, and room were quite clean and well designed. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in bathroom were all organic and came from spa in the hotel. The location was also good. You can walk to destination areas in downtown.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 293Fantastic service
From the moment we arrived prior to check-in time, until the bellmen were loading our luggage into a special taxi for the wheelchair to take us to the train station, the service in this hotel was outstanding. The rooms are a little run down, mostly due to age, but everything else was absolutely fantastic. The location of the hotel was very convenient. We walked or took the double-decker bus every place we wanted to go.
