    THE GOOD: The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable with updated bathrooms (granite, pedestal sinks). A continental breakfast is available with a nice waffle maker and basic breakfast items. All of the staff we met were friendly, courteous, and helpful. THE BAD: Most of these items are minor, but here's what we noticed: The pink carpet in the lobby is an eyesore in what could otherwise be a nice space (neutral carpet would be so much better) -- this is the first impression we had when walking in to the hotel. The bare metal stairs to the third floor that look like they were once carpeted seemed to show a lack of investment in the upkeep of the hotel. The hotel binders (outdated?) in the rooms say that the continental breakfast is available until 10, but it closes down at 9:30 am. There is very little shelf space in the bathroom to unpack toiletries or place clothes.

Location. Located in scenic Santa Cruz, Calif., the Best Western All Suites Inn is within one mile of downtown, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and the beach. Various shops, restaurants and government offices reside within walking distance. Air travelers are 35 miles from San Jose International Airport.

Hotel Features. As guests approach the Best Western All Suite Inn, they are greeted by a soaring glass atrium reflecting staircases rising to comforting accommodations. The peaceful lobby features tiled floors and green-accented furnishings. A versatile fitness room with weight machines, stationary bike and a treadmill allows guests to maintain active regimes. The hotel serves complimentary hot breakfasts. Guests also have access to on-site laundry facilities.

Guestrooms. Accommodations vary from standard guestrooms to more spacious suites. Amenities include complimentary high-speed Internet access, refrigerators and coffeemakers. Select suites include fireplaces, granite wet bars and jetted tubs.
