Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 185You'll just melt into the beds!
living in AZ, we know how pricey this hotel is during the high tourist season - winter. we were lucky to get a room through Hotels.com at a very great rate. the staff was absolutely splendid. very courteous and very customer oriented. the room's design is very pleasing and very comfortable. you will literally just melt into the bed it is so comfortable! i've stayed in other hotels with larger rooms for less money though. i don't think i'd stay there again without the Hotels.com discount. There were two items that dissapointed me. the first was, this is a suite, in essence, two rooms. the only restrooms door was in the master room. and if you are laying on one of the beds your view can be whomever is sitting on the toilet. very inconvenient too if someone has to use the toilet at night and they are sleeping in the other room on the pull out couch. the other dissapointment was that the maid had completely missed the wet bar in her daily cleaning. there was water in the ice bucket from melted ice and coffee and water stains all over the counter. i was very uncomfortable using the coffee cups... i made sure to wash them before i did. i could have complained to the staff, but as i was attending a function at the hotel, i did not have time to deal with this. we were only there one night. overall, very nice place. would recommend, but only with the discount.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 185"In-town" vacation
We live in Gilbert, but wanted to stay out of the house for a night and go swimming (it was a really hot day.) We picked this hotel because the pictures showed a huge pool with many slides. Yes, for a hotel (and not a water park) it was fun. However, the pictures made the pool park seem much bigger than it really is. My husband didn't even want to go in the water because it was so crowded. So, we went of 2 slides and went around the "tube lazy river" once. It was just too packed/stuffy and annoying to do any more. Also, the river was closed for a couple of hours for repair (which happens, I guess.) I wouldn't stay here again - unless I was visiting from out of town. We also went to the rest. up on the hill for dinner. We got a free ride there from the hotel (though we waited 1/2 hour for them to come get us - but it was free, (we tipped, most people prob. don't though.) Really not a bad hotel at all though.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 185Best Resort
I was in town for a wedding at the resort and the water park was a great break from the stress. The property was beautiful and staff was nothing les than consistently courteous and helpful. If I had the money, I would spend all my vacations there.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 185Not the best
The service of the hotel staff was absolutely awful. At check-in I was spoken to very rudely by one of the clerks. When I got to my room the toilet had not been cleaned (visible signs of use). The housekeeping staff did show up promptly and cleaned the entire bathroom. Later in my stay i called the guest services because what looked to be our refridgerator was not working. An hour later no one had shown up, called again and was argued with by the person on the phone that it is not a refidgerator, it is a cooler and you must put ice in it. It is only designed to keep things at room temperature, then she hung up on me. I would never stay here again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 185Poor Service
While stying here, I was exposed to several different service people, waitstaff, cleaning crew, bartenders, and lifeguards. Not ONE of these people were helpful, polite, or freindly. In fact, they were just the opposite. During my stay, I was snapped at and treated as if I was an Inconvenience to the people working there. I never have felt so unwelcome at a hotel before. In addition, upon checking out of my room, I accidently left a new college textbook (that I had just purchased for my nephew) there and immediately called to make sure that I could get it back (seeing as though it cost $210) I was told that "nothing turned up" and that there was nothing that anyone could do to help me. After several letters and phonecalls, the book "turned up" again about 1 1/2 weeks later. The book was out of its wrapping and badly damaged (several pages were unreadable). I was not offered an apology, or a replacement for this book and the lost and found manager was as rude to me as the rest of the staff there. While the rooms and ammenities at the Arizona Gand Resort were above my expectations, I would have to say that the rest of my experience was so poor that I would not recommend this resort to family, or friends.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 185Nice but over rated
The room was clean and comfortable. Great beds! Our room was in the Sedona building which was close to the water park. However, the Oasis Water Park is way over rated. We had a 10, 5 and 2 year old. The 10 year old got bored! The 5 year old couldn't ride the slides because he wasn't 48" and the splash pad was nasty and cold. We stayed there during the labor day weekend and the water park area was packed, dirty, and nasty. There were cups and straws floating in the water every where. There were little rocks on the deck that everyone kept stepping on and most of the tubes were going flat. There is only 3 slides, 2 that drop straight down and 1 nice one, a lazy river and small wave pool. That is it! To top it off lunch was $55.00 and we shared drinks and onion rings!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 185Did not meet expectations
I stayed at the hotel 3 years ago when it was The Pointe at South Mountain. I was very impressed then. I would have paid the full rack rate and been pleased. Now, a little different, but not horrible. I do not like the new room decor. I liked the old spanish decor. Also, is seems they downsized on the refrig and microwave. No kitchen ammenities. The water park was great! Only complaint was Saturday they did not have enough life guards so they ran only one slide at a time. Overall, great hotel at a discount. I would not pay full rack rate.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 185Not very upfront with you
The hotel was decent. the pools were great and having a waterpark attached was fantastic. That being said, there were a few problems that were deal breakers for me. The parking is not existant. I had to drive around for literally 20 minutes to find somewhere to park. My Balcony view was of a construction trailer right outside my room. The hot tubs motors kept burning out and not working. I had a non smoking room but it stunk of cigarettes because people were smoking right outside the room. In addition, I reserved a room with queen size beds I got one with one king size beds. My child had to sleep on a pullout couch! Which wasn't that big of a deal but that is not what I reserved or paid for. When I called the front desk they told me "we don't guarantee room types and basically told me to deal with it. When checking out, the resort fee went from $16 to $25 each night. Overall, its not a bad hotel but it was overpriced, the construction is a major hinderance and their staff were less than desirable. I would not recommed staying there until they are finished with the construction.
