Hotel Normafa
We stayed here for 6 nights in August 2008. The staff were wonderful; they were always helpful and friendly. The breakfast was spectacular. The pool area is very nice and the setting is relaxing. You have to take a 20 minute bus ride to get to the train station, but if you don't mind that it's a nice place to stay. We got a little tired of the bus ride so we probably wouldn't stay there again. It was extremely hot when we were there and our room was quite hot, but they gave us a fan when requested, which helped. There is a nice park right next door full of trails; my husband went running every morning. Overall it's a great hotel, just be sure you're fine with staying away from most of the sights and the center city....More

Novotel Budapest Danube
The good: the rate was reasonable for a hotel with great (outstanding, even) location, a comfortable bed, and air conditioning. The service was friendly and prompt with requests, and all of the desk workers spoke good english- some of them quite fluent. Finally, the rooms looked terrific with really cool, modern interior design- i had to take pictures of it before we messed it up with our tons of stuff.
The annoying: the couch in the room was pretty uncomfortable so it was relegated to holding our laundry. Also, the shower is designed openly, so while it looks great, we got water everywhere. The most significant annoyance was the way the bed was made up: a sheet over the mattress and a comforter- no sheet to go on top of you! Even with the aircondition, a comforter is too much in august (at least if you're sharing a bed) so we had to request another sheet every time they made up the room.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, but only if you're not easily annoyed by hotels......More

art'otel budapest, by park plaza
The reviews in guide books was good but we were disappointed during our stay. The equipment in the "fitness center" was not maintained, did not work and was not repaired when reported. The breakfast was glorified on the website but was disappointing and not a value for the price. No clock in the room and no Englsh language televison station....More
