The Savannah
We were pleasantly surprised by how nice our stay was at The Savannah. The modest entrance belies a large hotel that abuts the ocean (Caribbean side). Our room was comfortable, and had a wonderful, private feeling outdoor porch area for sitting out of the sun. One pool winds under bridges in a central courtyard area, while another sidles up to a pool bar area. All pool areas are 3 1/2 feet deep, so we felt comfortable with our nine year old son and his friend playing in the pool for hours. Many of Barbados beaches seem rocky (old coral perhaps) but a short walk from The Savannah we found a smooth beach with gentle waves.
The bar area was open from 12 to 6 PM, which seemed too short, and bartenders seemed mystified by simple drink orders during this off-season visit. The restaurant had a beautiful view of the pools and ocean, and had consistently good breakfast buffets and dinner.
We plan to return to Barbados, and will definitely stay in The Savannah again....More

Divi Southwinds Beach Resort
The hotel overall was good. There were a few items that were annoying. (1) Hotel personnel coming to your room often to do inventory (2) Asking for items several times and not receiving them (wake up calls that wouldn't come (3) Television coverage was horrible (you had 5 channels three of them played the same movie 24/7 for three days in a row. It would be better if they had satellite with more stations (4) There were several days when we were disturbed several times in the middle of the night by teenage travellers who were intoxicated.
However you must take in to account we were there for over three weeks. The beaches were beautiful and the hotel staff was very friendly. It is a good hotel for the price....More

Southern Palms Beach Club
Southern Palms is a classic, 50's era plantation-style beach front hotel. It shows its age somewhat, but gracefully. If you want a great location, friendly staff, large rooms, but do not need exquisite, luxury accomodations, Southern Palms is for you. It's location in the middle of the St. Lawrence Gap (lots of restaurants, bars, stores within walking distance) makes it ideal. Many people having seen the entire island will say that the beaches in the St. Lawrence Gap area(southwest end of the island) are the most beautiful on the island....More
