Mayfair Hotel
I checked-in and then checked-out within an hour. This hotel is clearly a low-budget option pretending to play in a loftier league. Do not be fooled. Do not waste your time. The rooms are cramped and dated and the fixtures are cheap plastic, window views are of dismal and dingy alleyways. The staff is unaccommodating. My UAE resident fiancee' was denied guest status because she did not have her original passport, only a certified copy. The staff enforces arbitrary policy at their discretion without regard for the consequences. This incident makes me question the validity of any of these ratings on this site. I am profoundly disappointed with the way I was treated by the staff of this low quality property. I was not seeking a cheap dive, as this place clearly is. I immediately moved to the Hilton Dubai Creek, which seemed a bargain at four times this price....More

Manhattan Avenue Hotel
My wife had a reservation for this hotel. She lands at the Dubai airport and calls the hotel, so that she can get a confirmation fax from them. This being one of the requirements for getting a visa - they need to see a fax from the hotel, which says that you are a guest. She calls them a dozen times from the airport desk, no one picks up the call. Eventually she had to get another hotel. I filed a dispute with my credit card company, to refund the stay. The hotel refused,saying that they will not do it. This is probably the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel....More
